The number of COVID-19 cases in Ohio has exceeded 1.45 million with an increase experienced daily for four straight days.

There were 6,310 new COVID-19 cases reported Thursday, which is the most for a day in the state since Sept. 30. It was a small increase from the 6,296 cases reported Wednesday, but much higher than the numbers reported for Sunday to Tuesday.

The 6,310 COVID-19 cases Thursday is up from the daily average of 5,928 for the past 21 days, according to the Ohio Department of Health.

Thursday’s total includes 505 cases in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties combined.

The state had a total of 1,452,096 COVID-19 cases as of Thursday with 1,316,990 presumed recovered.

The ODH usually provides death information on Tuesdays and Fridays. There were 22,490 total COVID-19 deaths as of Tuesday.

Mahoning County had 29,061 total COVID-19 cases as of Thursday with 25,813 presumed recovered and 658 deaths.

Trumbull County had 21,631 total COVID-19 cases as of Thursday with 19,057 presumed recovered and 534 deaths.

Columbiana County had 12,967 total COVID-19 cases as of Thursday with 11,266 presumed recovered and 249 deaths.

VACCINATIONS

There were 6,351,910 people, 54.34 percent of the state’s population, who had at least started getting inoculated as of 6 a.m. Thursday, including 7,930 in the previous 24 hours, according to the Ohio Department of Health.

In Mahoning County, 52.33 percent of the population (119,703 people) had received at least one dose with 50.13 percent of the population in Trumbull County (99,267 people) and 42.71 percent in Columbiana County (43,524 people) as of 6 a.m. Thursday, according to the ODH.

There were 5,912,247 people, 50.58 percent of the state’s population, who finished the vaccinations as of 6 a.m. Thursday, including 8,860 in the prior 24 hours.

In Mahoning County, 48.82 percent of the population (111,660 people) had completed the process and 46.41 percent of the population in Trumbull (91,889 people) and 39.93 percent of the population in Columbiana (40,697 people) had as of 6 a.m. Thursday.
