COVID-19: New cases in Taylor, Brown counties decline week over week – Abilene Reporter-News

The Abilene-Taylor County Public Health District on Friday reported 21 new cases of COVID-19, four of which were confirmed via polymerase chain reaction tests.

The number of new cases for the week totals 164, a decline from the 189 reported the previous week.

Active cases Friday totaled 835 (196 PCR cases and 639 based on antigen tests), down from 946 a week ago.

State officials are releasing county and trauma service area data on Mondays only.

Brown County cases declining

BROWNWOOD – Brown County health officials Friday reported 42 total new cases of COVID-19 for the seven previous days, compared to 90 new cases the previous week.

No patients are hospitalized for COVID-19, as of Friday.

The percentage of county residents aged 6 months and older who are fully vaccinated is 42.28%, compared to 42.24% from the previous report.

The current totals for COVID-19 testing in Brown County as of Friday were:

  • Total positive: 13,206
  • Total negative: 10,613
  • Cases confirmed by PCR test: 5,107
  • Cases confirmed by antigen test: 8,099
  • Deaths: 257
  • Average age of deceased: 67

Abilene ISD: Reported Friday zero new cases, for a total of 28 active cases (19 student cases and nine staff cases). Active cases Monday totaled 33.

Wylie ISD: The district is reporting COVID-19 data directly to the health department only.
