Eight-year-old girl dies after being struck by caravan in Tidal River, Victoria

An eight-year-old girl has died after being struck by a caravan that was being moved at a popular Wilsons Promontory campground.

The child was struck by the van near the intersection of 22nd Ave and Fifth Ave in Tidal River about 10am on Sunday.

An off duty paramedic performed CPR on the girl but she was not able to be saved.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and is assisting police with the investigation.

Tidal River is the main visitor hub for Wilsons Promontory National Park where visitors enjoy swimming and surfing at Norman Beach and is the gateway to many popular walks and overnight hikes to the southern Prom.
