Ford’s Anton De Pasquale remains perfect in the Supercars championship return at Sydney Motorsport Park, securing pole position for both of Sunday’s races.
The Shell V-Power driver, who has topped every single session at the Sydney SuperNight event and won Saturday’s 32-lap race, was again unbeatable in Sunday’s two 10-minute qualifying runs.
De Pasquale left it late in the opening session, clocking a one minute and 28.2988 second fastest lap to finish more than half-a-second clear of teammate Will Davison (1:28.9553) to secure his sixth pole position of the year.
Minutes later pole No.7 was secured De Pasquale clocked 1:28.3084 early in the second 10-minute qualifying run that proved too hot for the field to handle.
“This weekend’s going good,” he told Fox Sports.
“The car’s obviously fast and I’m just sort of hanging on and trying to do the lap time.
“So far, so good.”
With all of his new tyres used, De Pasquale pitted for the final half of the session with Erebus’s Will Brown securing his second front-row start of the weekend with the second-fastest lap – ahead of Red Bull Ampol Racing pair Jamie Whincup and Shane van Gisbergen.
Championship leader van Gisbergen, who finished a distant second to De Pasquale in Saturday’s night race, will start the first race of the afternoon from sixth and fourth in the second.
Main championship rival Whincup qualified fourth for the first race to secure a second-row start for both races.
Tickford Racing’s poor weekend continued with Cameron Waters qualifying 14th and 12th.
Sunday’s first race starts at 12.45pm with final race of the event to get under way at 4.25pm.
