Two peacekeepers killed in Mali attack: UN

Two United Nations peacekeepers have been killed and 5 severely wounded by an improvised explosive machine in northern Mali, the UN peacekeeping mission says.

The incident took spot amongst the village of Tessalit and the town of Gao, Olivier Salgado, spokesman for MINUSMA, mentioned in a tweet.

Insecurity has grown in the west African state due to the fact Islamist insurgents who took root in its arid north a decade in the past escalated assaults and seized territory.

The militants have received momentum irrespective of the presence of international troops and UN peacekeepers.

The conflict has killed countless numbers and displaced hundreds of thousands across the Sahel area south of the Sahara.
