WellSpan Health employees must get COVID-19 vaccine – PennLive

WellSpan Health has announced that all of their staff members must be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Lancaster Online reports that the company, which operates eight hospitals in Pennsylvania and employs around 20,000 people, will require all employees to receive their first dose of the vaccine (if taking a vaccine that requires multiple doses) by Dec. 1. Their second doses must be taken by Jan 5, 2022.

Exemptions will be granted for religious and medical reasons, but all other employees who fail to get the vaccine will lose their jobs with the company.

“WellSpan continues to believe that vaccination is the single best way to reduce the spread of COVID-19,” said WellSpan spokesperson Ryan Coyle in an email, according to Lancaster Online.

The York-based company had previously required that employees either be vaccinated or undergo regular COVID-19 testing. The company has not disclosed what percentage of their staff has been vaccinated.
